a couple more photos from the sante fe students… the names of the photographers to follow…

if there’s a post below you haven’t checked out, now’s the time to check it out.

some sante fe students did some photos of our fountain as part of an assignment. i’ll be posting some here and trying to figure out a place online to show them all.
a couple of us, maybe a few, will be judging the photos to pick some winners. great photos thanks for the interest.

overload! overload! i know i know.
sorry to give you too much to watch in one sitting. come back later and watch it all! i am giving you a lot to keep you busy over the holiday. see what a satchel’s mom christmas party looks like. this year she had a gingerbread party. too much. satch went to bed before it was over. too much for me.
check it out here:
gingerbread mansions from satchel's on Vimeo.
this video is killer. we had 2 1/2 cases of ‘gansett at the christmas party. sometimes if i see a car with a satchel’s bumper sticker i give them a coupon for a free calzone. i need to get it on camera like they did over at narragansett.
display your sticker. be in our next video.
satchel’s. lightnin’ salvage.

PS… this would be a good time to RE-WATCH all the BAD-O-MIME movies and start to realize just how funny they are. the bad-o movies are some of the funniest stuff out there on the web – not funny as in stupid videos that get sent to you funny, but funny as in you have a real sense of humor funny. (you can tell i am winding down for 2009 here, trying to get in just a couple more posts… 2009, a good year for me… please check out bad-o-mime. bad-o is my favorite mime in the world. oh – and see the fish i caught the other day? it may be small but it’s the biggest perch i’ve caught in a long time.

i found this old photo of einstein as a boy, reminded me of a kid i know now.
our thursday crew from the DE, came in on tuesday this week due to holidays… last week i wanted to get them on the satch-cam but forgot, this week they were 1 person short and not getting the regular pie, and so it’ll be next year before i get to show everyone the thursday crew on video. i hope they dress up nice on january 7th….and order the deep dish…
we had our employee party. you can see a short video on strummertv. you see, the LSEyoutube project turned into a place where both danny and i can post cool LSE stuff – you know, for the general public. (he’s got most of the videos there, me just a few) danny has the strummertv vimeo for specialized videos, just like i have my vimeo for certain projects…
i’ve linked it all here so you can spend some time checking it all out, and that will give me the break i need to work out some new material, and celebrate the christmas holiday some.
thanks for checking it out, staying on top, doing due diligence, and chowin’ down pies. sathcel’s pizza loves you.
this post is a few days old but i forgot to hit the publish button…
well, i may have missed some of the early action of the day, i still forget the camera is in my pocket… but i was happy to get a few decent scenes. just think about you are out on a thursday night for pizza… and you are listening to satch-mo and getting some satchel’s pizza…. and you come across the embros orchestra, belting it out at LSE and you realize, that some days are just magic.
a lady tonight told me about a story of the couple she was with, who had a child, gave him up for adoption, and then got married and had 2 more kids. the adopted child found his birth parents on facebook and had flown in from ohio to meet his birth parents…. AND the woman who handled the adoption, who now lives in tampa, but happened to be at LSE tonight, happened to strike up a conversation with someone who knew the couple and there was an even bigger re-union than anyone could have planned…
i know the video quality is not so good, and the camera-work shaky, but please check it out.
also, i have a new song, PINECONE JAMM, that i will be sharing with you soon. you want to stick around for this. check back daily for a week.
crazy thursday from satchel's on Vimeo.
once you hear the pinecone jamm a few times, it’s hard to get it out of your head. i’ve got to figure out how to get proper audio of this song onto the blog.
beezy and bambu. please, can we get this on itunes? i only want 10%.
pinecone jamm remix from satchel on Vimeo.
ok. it’s late and i don’t have time to get into it all. listen closely and i’ll break it down for you. i rigged up this crazy camera as a necklace held by wire which made me look totally insane. i get some reactions from my employees as i play the pinecone jamm which is a song written by beezy and bambu (satchel’s awesome employees) for the pinecone contest. then, we breeze into my prep for the contest, as i race out of the kitchen for a quick award’s ceremony… as you will notice, my good friend john is giving me advice and prep for the ceremony. he is invaluable. he IS the genius behind lightnin’ salvage, and he worked about 12 hours or more today, finishing all the details of the contest… making trophies, organizing the unveiling of the winning cone, contacting winners… the list goes on. i just waltz in and do some announcing and cutting up, but he is the actual brains behind the operation. many thanks to john.
anyway, the “camera as a necklace” did not really work as i had hoped, mostly because i was too nervous to remember i was even filming. i may seem to be at ease but actually i am really not. i am not crazy about MC’ing these contests, but i don’t have a proper replacement. john would never want to do it.
the song is just amazing. if you can hang through the initial shakiness of my funky camera set-up, you will notice that the song is top notch. oh- and filmed in the middle is me picking up the new satchel’s pizza hoodies that employees are getting as one of their 3 christmas presents. the design is for employees only for now, we’ll sell as t-shirts to the public ‘eventually.” the employees have not even seen the hoodie yet so i throw it up here for a quick sneak peek if any of them are watching…
friday stuff from satchel's on Vimeo.
isn’t it weird how the word short for moustache is ‘stache and the word satchel have very similar letters, i mean the same letters except for satch has no e and satchel has the extra l? anyway, next video up, the video everyone will be watching this sunday, is pinecone contest award’s ceremony. don’t miss it. the blog is never going to get any better than it is right now. so, you better get it while it’s hot because it’ll get cold in january…
for now, check the moustache contest:
stache-off part 2 from satchel's on Vimeo.
if you did not get a call from us about attending the award’s ceremony, and you entered the contest, i am sorry, what can i say? the judges were instructed to choose their favorites.
here’s the latest… pinecone display for 2009 getting built, and i take a quick look at past displays and winning cones.
i know it’s hard to wait until friday. i know you can barely handle the emotion. satchel’s pizza has gotten exclusive footage behind the scenes of the LSE magic/ toy trick garage… i caught the judges in the act of judging the 2009 contest this morning, and got closer to my 2 minute goal for a short-flick. i did not judge this year. my son had entered the contest with a nice cone so i didn’t want to make the thing seem rigged. we brought in extra judges who did not know anything about who brought in the pinecones they were looking at. 5 judges all together.
i was a judge in an art show once and i thought it would be so fun but it was actually quite hard. i did my best to pick but the artists were not in the room. later, at the award’s ceremony, many of the artists were there and i felt really bad for all the artists who weren’t mentioned, the ones who won nothing.
it’s the same with this contest. we had lots of entries this year. by far more entries than in any previous year. but in the end we just pick a few for the honors…
there’s a second round of judging tomorrow, and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be chosen, along with an honorable mention. friday night at 7:30 the awards will be given. if you entered and you don’t get a phone call from us about attending the awards ceremony, well, you might want to get burritos on friday night. it’s not that we don’t love your cone, it’s just that we were forced to pick 4… forced by our boss.
i wish i could keep up this pace, but i doubt i can come up with enough good material for long. i’ve gotten lucky so far with stache-off and pinecone judging. good stories = interesting to watch.
pinecone judging (top secret) from satchel's on Vimeo.

looks like a large with pepperoni, ricotta and tomato, and a large with pepperoni, ricotta and red onions.
makes me hungry lookin’ at this.
stache-off part 1 from satchel's on Vimeo.
inspired by the narragansett site and danny, i’ve decided to try my best to bring you short videos of stuff. 2 minutes was to be my goal but already with this one i’m at more like 3 minutes. this one is a perfect example of the fun we have at work. in this short, you will see “O.T.” as he is called… the man who won THE ABDOMINATER (who could get the best looking abs in 3 months…) competition almost 3 years ago. (see winning photo below)
But his challenger, WIND-SONG, is known to sport quite the style and suave-ness. which one will win? who will donate prizes for this competition? any ladies willing to take the winner out for dinner? let me know. seriously.
i want to start online contests, begin setting up an online store for our merch and souvenirs, and have a quickly changing blog where you might get to know our world a bit better.

rugelach is one of those words i love. like jon stewart loves “caulk” i love “rugelach.” this photo is a few years old but ruthie has been making the rugelach lately. i am supposed to know exactly what this dessert is but the truth is i don’t. i guess it’s a pastry, rolled dough with cinamon and currants? are there nuts? i really don’t know, i just know that i love these things. i used to live in town and my neighbor was a wonderful polish woman named sophie sadlick. she made these “cookies” as she called them that were divine. she would make a batch and freeze them and then give my wife and i a baggy full. we could hardly wait for them to thaw. i think we would sit around and watch the cold baggy start to sweat. we would fight over them. my wife would get mad if i ate too many because she knew they would all be gone within 24 hours. maybe those cookies were rugelach i don’t exactly know. but ruthies rugelach are the closest thing i’ve ever tasted to sophie sadlicks cookie.
i am inspired by the narragansett website/ blog. i can’t get into all the things i found while checking their site out, but i will say it gave me A LOT of great ideas. i don’t often feel like i get a lot of great ideas in one place like that. maybe i can start with bringing you a few weekly videos of my experiences/ ineractions, with work, and build upon that to a whole new level of web based information that could solidify our brand. narragansett. this simple beer company has my mind reeling tonight.

the more they stay the same.
here’s J & J setting up the place, just like they still do today, about 3 years later.
pine cone contest coming up.
get yer stocking stuffrz at LSE> you know, maybe i need to do my own holiday video advertisement plug for the store… i’ll work on that.

well… you saw it, what am i gonna say to make it different. nothing.
it was a slow week for us. maybe the cold and rain kept people away this weekend, maybe lots of people went to atlanta, maybe they are shopping at the mall.
i’m happy about the weekend. i should have never posted those old pictures of me. someone just sent them to me and it’s shocking to see what the 80′s did to me. i figured it would be a humbling experience to show you what a true geek i really am.
i hang 6 new paintings monday, at satchel’s. lennie kesl is coming in too to hang some paintings and maybe some plates. i am pretty happy with most of the new paintings, but i’m sure they will not be a big hit in any way, shape, or form. they are each done with a limited palette of 3 colors. they are the sort of paintings that i love but that most people will not understand. no matter, it is always good for me to look over the year’s work, because i never really look at them much until they are all hanging together.
and as for the gators… we still love them, win or lose.

this 18 year old was HOT!
here i am mixing what?… mac-n-cheese?
nice hairdo.

was i destined to bake? this ancient photo of me… check the cracked cake. check the kind of bread i ate. check the haircut. check the radio. OMG.
TWO DOLLAR 16 ounce naragansett cans, from kickoff to countdown, at lightnin’ salvage, during the SEC championship game, saturday at 4pm.
watch the naragansett commercial, watch satch’s new video, “repaint the ridgeline part 1.”
i’m watching the game at work. if we run out of naragansett, order the retro red, a new and great beer from colorado.
